Thames (NZ): Prices Foundry Cricket Team 1898-99

Cricket was one of the most popular sports on the Thames Goldfields. The goldfields opened August 1867 and the following Summer of 1868 saw the formation of the Thames Cricket Club. (For those wanting the history click here for previous blog post)

There were many cricket clubs in the town, and it was common for businesses to have their own team The Thames Foundry Cricket Club team were the winners of the Senior Championship in 1898-99. Photo and names below.
